Speaking
A New Set of Eyes
One life ended. Another life, not chosen, was given to Steve Elder.
On a small country road with the smell of summer in the air, a drunk driver swerved into Steve’s path and changed everything.
We all have had dreams shattered, ruined, or fail. The things life hands us also hand us a decision.

What now?
Steve shares his story of survival and the re-creation of a life that was not in his plans and dreams.
Over the years, a choice became clear. That of a victim, or of someone who chose to live in the face of tremendous challenge.
What we begin to discover is that everyone has a similar story. While the circumstances differ, we all face challenges each day that threaten our success, joy, productivity, and peace.

Steve challenges his audiences in this presentation to look at life through a different lens that are hard-won through the trials of an at-death’s door experience, and transforms our thinking from the past that grips many of us to open ourselves to the possibility that, no matter what we have been through, the very best of our lives lies directly ahead.

How To Sell Watermelons
In this powerful talk, Steve speaks of the legacy that we choose to leave behind. Using the love, care, and interest of others his beloved Grandfather bestowed upon him, Steve asks powerful questions that move people to action in their personal and professional lives. We are at our best when we are striving for purpose to fill our lives, but find lacking in the sometimes mundane tasks of everyday living. This talk serves as a reminder that the ripples of our impact are being felt, and that we have to be intentional and aware of that impact. This talk is suited best for any audience that wishes to be challenged in the decisions we make personally and professionally every single day.

For Churches
The Power of Authenticity
Using his own life story as the context for this session, Steve talks about shattering the walls and facades that we have carefully crafted for ourselves. The world’s demands crashing in all around us lead us to look for our answers in the places we are told they lie—success as an end to itself, the chasing of the material, that everything we do has to be bigger and better than the last. And that game never ends well.

Simply wandering as a 30-something year old, Steve shares first-hand the power a few close, like-minded friends can bring, and with it the way God can use others to strip away all the stuff we build around ourselves because we don’t really want others to know what we are thinking. In the end, we find out that most shocking of truths—you aren’t alone.

Speaking to the issues facing men today---pressures at work, building real relationships in an unreal world, the inability to communicate the true desires of our hearts, and sustaining a marriage in the haze of all our activity, Steve speaks with first-hand knowledge of the power that God equips us with if we will only stop striving—and start talking.

Talking to Quietly Desperate Husbands
Suited for women’s groups, this session speaks to the challenges many, many marriages face today. Our hectic pace of life and the pursuit of success---our choices—shape our relationships for better or for worse.

Most marriages end in some form of the statement “My spouse doesn’t understand me.” The lack of intimate communication is a lost art today, but one that is critical to our relationships being whole, healthy and vibrant.

Men and women alike face pressures different from generations past. All the noise from our lives serves to shut down the most important part of a marriage—communication. With constant distractions and the pressure we all impose critically on ourselves, this leads to the state of The Walled Off Man----the man who appears happy on the outside, but who yearns to be listened to and understood.
